Green Cleaning: Essential Oils

Today we will be following up last week's post on "green cleaning" with another eco-friendly cleaning tip. We've already covered some of the many merits of incorporating white vinegar into your cleaning supplies. But with a slight twist, that usefulness can be increased even further.

To step up the effectiveness of your vinegar-based cleaner, consider adding a few drops of essential oil to your spray bottle. They key here is to pick specific oils for specific purposes. Some oils will mainly only add a pleasant scent. This alone can make it worthwhile, but certain oils have additional properties that can make them quite useful. Cinnamon oil, Clove oil, and Tea Tree oil have all been shown to have antibacterial capabilities, but the real winner here is Thyme oil. Adding Thyme oil to your vinegar spray can turn it into an effective, natural disinfectant. Effective, AND eco-friendly!
