Cleaning Hack: Removing Red Wine Stains

Most of us who are of legal drinking age will agree that red wine is pretty great. But anyone who has ever spilled their wine on something important knows how difficult the stains can be!

Today's tip is twofold, this stain removal method can work on washables and non washables with only a few minor tweaks. The key to both methods is denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is excellent for a variety of stains so it is good to have in your arsenal. It also makes a very effective window cleaner if diluted with water. If your wine stain is on a non-washable item, such as carpeting or upholstery, start with denatured alcohol and blot dry, then for any remaining stain, rinse well with white vinegar. The same steps will apply for washable items such as kitchen towels or shirts, just be sure to have your wash cycle on cold! Hot water will make the stain permanent.
Disclaimer: denatured alcohol is a flammable substance. Read all appropriate warnings and use with caution.
